Regular face-to-face lessons will continue in Dubai's private schools in the second semester that begins on January 3.

Canteens will be shut during the first two weeks of the term, while extracurricular activities, field trips and gatherings will be suspended.

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) made the announcement.

It came shortly after federal authorities said public schools in the UAE will shift to distance learning for the first two weeks of the second semester.

Private schools in Abu Dhabi will also make the temporary switch to remote learning.
