Dubai witnessed a 165-fold increase in population between 1950 and 2020.

That's according to the Government of Dubai Media Office, which published an infographic charting the growth of the emirate's population over the 70-year period.

In 1950, the population was just 20,000 and the numbers soared to 3.3 million in 2020.

By 2040, the number of people living in Dubai is forecast to reach 5.8 million.
