The Air Wing unit of Dubai Police recently came to the aid of a woman who fell ill at a luxury resort on the World Islands.

They braved unstable weather conditions to swiftly transfer the Indian woman to Rashid Hospital.

Colonel Khalfan Al Mazroui, Deputy Director of Dubai Police Air Wing said they received an emergency call reporting a woman, who had fallen sick at the Anantara World Islands Dubai Resort.

He added that rescue teams could not reach the offshore facility due to strong winds and high waves, so they dispatched a team of paramedics on board a helicopter.

"The visibility was very low at only 1,500 metres, while wind speed was at 40 knots causing high waves and strong currents," Col. Al Mazroui explained.

The official said the Dubai Police Air Wing routinely carries out specialised humanitarian and community tasks such as providing ambulance services, search and rescue missions, and road monitoring

He urged the public to call 999 for emergencies or send distress requests via Dubai Police's smart app.
