Dubai has launched the first-of-its-kind drone delivery system in the Middle East, positioning itself as a global leader in smart mobility and future transport solutions.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, inaugurated the project at Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), a hub for innovation and knowledge.

The launch event was attended by key figures, including His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA), and other senior officials.

The drone delivery service, a result of collaboration between the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ), and the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF), aims to revolutionize the logistics sector by creating dedicated air routes for drones, aligned with existing airspace usage in DSO.

Sheikh Hamdan placed the first order through the new system, marking a significant milestone for Dubai’s growing technological landscape.

This system is set to cover 33% of Dubai by 2030, underscoring the emirate's commitment to advancing smart mobility.

Sheikh Hamdan emphasised Dubai’s dedication to fostering public-private partnerships to accelerate research, development, and sustainable growth.

He added that initiatives like the drone delivery system are part of Dubai's broader vision to double its economy by 2033, through cutting-edge technologies, artificial intelligence, and smart infrastructure.

As part of the Dubai Program to Enable Drone Transportation, the system represents Dubai’s ongoing efforts to integrate future technologies and innovation into everyday life.

The drones utilize advanced algorithms, low-noise propellers, and multi-sensor positioning technology, ensuring efficiency, safety, and minimal disruption in urban environments.

Dubai’s ambitious move into drone delivery aligns with its broader goals of making the city the world’s most future-ready urban center.

The city continues to lead in the aviation and logistics sectors, with Dubai Silicon Oasis serving as a key testing ground for these transformative technologies.

This project highlights Dubai’s role as a hub for technological advancement, reinforcing its position as a global leader in smart mobility and sustainable growth.
