Dubai installs smart traps to control mosquitoes

Supplied

Dubai Municipality has launched an initiative to combat mosquitoes and other insects by installing 237 smart traps across the city.

This move is aimed at enhancing public health and preventing insect-borne risks, especially with the winter season bringing an increase in mosquito activity.

The traps, which are powered by solar energy, are strategically placed in key areas like residential, commercial and industrial zones, as well as near parks, markets and water bodies.

The smart traps provide real-time data, supporting Dubai's pest management system while reducing pesticide use and improving monitoring efforts.

These measures are part of the municipality's ongoing commitment to ensuring public health and safety, while contributing to a more sustainable and attractive city.
