The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has evaluated a genetic drug that could treat blindness.

The UAE is one of the first countries in the world to get this medicine.

The Ministry has revealed that a specialised team has studied the innovative drug made for hereditary retinal degeneration and say it has already been approved and registered.

The team also discussed the outcomes for registering a number of innovative, biological and similar medicines manufactured locally or internationally.

These included 94 pharmaceutical products, 15 innovative products, 14 biological preparations, and 65 generic medicines.
