Patient-specific anatomical models will now be used to conduct pre-operative analysis.

According to the Dubai Health Authority, the newly opened 3D printing lab uses patients' MRIs and CT scans to convert them into 3D printed models.

They clarified that this initiative will help increase the success rate of surgeries, especially when dealing with complex cases.

The health authority also explained that the innovative solution will not only improve efficiencies but also reduce costs.

A recent study by Academic Radiology shows that anatomical models can help medical institutions save more than AED13,500 per surgery by reducing time-spent in operating theaters.
