Conditions of bus drivers to be assessed in RTA initiative

NULL

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has begun a trial to monitor the physical condition of its drivers. It initially sees 50 buses fitted with a smart system aimed at assessing any indication of fatigue the drivers could be experiencing. Another smart system will focus on driving standards, including patterns of speeding, sudden swerves, and irresponsible braking. The aims of the systems are to ensure the safety and efficiency of the service, and the move comes in line with Dubai’s smart city initiative. Should the trial be successful, it will then be implemented across the RTA’s fleet of more than 1,500 vehicles.
