UAE residents are being warned to watch out for scammers impersonating VIP's online.

Dubai Police say that fraudsters are pretending to be public figures on social media sites, asking for money which they say is for people in need.

As part of the scam, the impersonators claim to return double the amount of money for those who donate.

Officials say that residents who see any suspicious activity online should contact the authorities.
