A weather alert has been issued for much of the country as a spell of unsettled weather is forecast across the UAE.

The National Weather Centre (NCM) issued a warning for the public to be "extremely vigilant" in some areas and asked residents to comply with requests by authorities.

The alert is in place until 1pm Sunday 14 August.

Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi Police have warned drivers to be careful due to the low horizontal visibility and not to be distracted with phones or attempt to photograph the weather conditions.
