There is no scientific evidence that suggests that COVID-19 can be transmitted through swimming pools.

That’s according to Dr. Omar Al Hammadi, the official spokesperson for the UAE Government, who clarified that despite the lack of evidence, physical distancing guidelines still apply in pools as a precautionary measure.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, he also explained that elderly citizens and residents are more susceptible to contracting the virus.

Leading a healthy lifestyle by exercising regularly, following a diet and avoiding harmful habits such as smoking will help strengthen individuals’ immune system, Al Hammadi added.
