Abu Dhabi ramps up food safety inspections

Supplied

Inspections have been stepped up in restaurants, groceries and other food outlets in Abu Dhabi.

The emirate's Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has carried out 5,190 field visits since the beginning of Ramadan.

As many as 4,860 outlets were found complying with the rules while administrative action was taken against 330 others for not following the guidelines.

The checks mainly focused on hygiene, as well as food preparation, storage and transportation.

The ADAFSA has urged consumers to report violations by calling the Abu Dhabi government contact centre on 800555.
