Eighteen 24-hour COVID-19 Diffractive Phase Interferometry (DPI) testing centres have been opened on both sides of the Al Faya Road to ease entry into Abu Dhabi.

They are located in the Seih Sheib area before Ghantoot.

The announcement was made by the Abu Dhabi Emergency Crisis and Disasters Committee.

Al Faya Road's centres are on the E75 between Sheikh Zayed Road on the E11 and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road on the E311.

The laser-based DPI technology is based on optical-phase modulation which is able to give a sign of infection within a few seconds.

New lanes will also be opened at the entry points between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The extra stations add to the extensive screening centres' network for all visitors entering Abu Dhabi within 72 hours of receiving a negative COVID-19 test result.
