Authorities in Abu Dhabi have issued a list of guidelines on preparing, handling and delivering food safely during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It outlines the precautionary measures and practices to be followed by restaurants and retail outlets as well as consumers and delivery service providers.

There are five main sections focusing on the personal hygiene of workers, regular sanitisation of outlets, and the best ways to pack and transport food.

It’s also got a mechanism for reporting and handling COVID-19 cases among employees.

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has released the guide in Arabic, English and Urdu.

It's based on the latest scientific studies of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the International Food Safety Authorities Network (INFOSAN) for combatting COVID-19.
