Abu Dhabi is strengthening its maritime infrastructure by developing new marinas and ferry terminals.

The facilities being constructed at Rabdan, Al Saadiyat Island and Al Aliah Island are scheduled for completion by the end of this year.

Meanwhile, an additional ferry station at Jebel Dhanna is expected to be ready in the third quarter of next year.

The new projects will raise the number of marina berths in Abu Dhabi by an additional 246.

Abu Dhabi Maritime, operating under AD Ports Group, has also announced plans to reinforce the existing ferry service with five new state-of-the-art vessels.

The new vessels will help enhance services between Al Aliah and Dalma islands by expanding the fleet’s passenger capacity by almost 70 per cent and its vehicle carrying capacity by 40 per cent.

Thanks to their advanced designs and application of modern technology, the vessels will improve safety, reduce the overall transit times, enhance fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions by 25 per cent
