A.I. to monitor on-road behaviour of Dubai taxi drivers

Twitter/@DXBMediaOffice

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has started using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to monitor the behaviour of taxi drivers.

The images of their performance behind the wheel will be captured using smart cameras and other AI systems installed in the vehicles.

The monitoring system will help officials send alerts to drivers or subject them to rehabilitation courses in case of repeat violations such as speeding, sudden stopping or unnecessary use of brakes.

Road conditions and other circumstances will be taken into account while assessing their conduct.

The RTA has previously used AI and special algorithms to check if cabbies are complying with the preventive measures against COVID-19.
