48 Houbara released in Al Ain for UAE national day

WAM

In celebration of the 48th UAE National Day, 48 Houbara have been released in the wild in Al Ain.

The International Fund for Houbara Conservations revealed that each bird is fitted with a numbered rings on their leg carrying the four colors of the UAE flag.

The rings have also been placed by the IFHC team in order for scientists to be able to identify the captive-bred Houbara in the wild.

They also partnered with the Ministry of Education, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Falconry and Desert Physiognomy School, Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, Al Ain Zoo and participating schools to release the birds at the Telal Resort in Al Ain.

The annual tradition of releasing the Houbara, bred at the IFHC breeding facility in Abu Dhabi, is the last step in the fund's mission which aims to rebalance wild populations across the Houbara migration range.
