The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has penalised 45 recruitment agencies in the UAE for operating without the necessary licences, with four companies in Al Ain fined AED 50,000 over the last two weeks.

The firms in Al Ain have been closed and the case referred to the Public Prosecution, the Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

The staff have been provided temporary accommodation and procedures initiated to transfer them to MoHRE-approved domestic worker recruitment establishments.

The violations in the recruitment sector were identified from 2022 to date, following an intense inspection campaign carried out by MOHRE, along with teams from Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security, and the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi - Al Ain branch.

The authority has cautioned the public against dealing with unlicensed recruitment firms and urged them to check its website for the full list of authorised companies and report "illegal practices" via its official channels or call centre (600590000).
