The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) has awarded 153 hotels with the Dubai Sustainable Tourism (DST) Stamp in its second cycle, marking a significant 118% increase from last year’s 70 recipients.

This highlights Dubai’s growing commitment to sustainability and its reputation as a green destination.

Launched in July 2023, the DST Stamp recognises hotels that excel in sustainable practices, aligning with Dubai’s environmental goals.

Establishments are evaluated on 19 key sustainability areas, including energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, and staff engagement.

The awards were presented at a ceremony on February 26 at Atlantis The Royal, with gold, silver, and bronze categories.

This initiative supports Dubai’s clean energy targets, the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 strategy, and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) for 2030.

It also aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33, which aims to solidify Dubai’s role as a leading global city.

The DST Stamp certification is valid for one year, encouraging continuous sustainability efforts. Hotels that did not receive the award this year are urged to keep working on their green initiatives for future recognition.

The initiative also complements projects like the Carbon Calculator platform, helping hotels manage carbon consumption, reduce emissions and transition to sustainable operations.
