'World's longest electric car trip' in Australia ends

facebook

A Dutchman drove his electric car on an epic 95,000 km-long journey, in a bid to prove the viability of such vehicles in tackling climate change.

Wiebe Wakker turned off the engine of his retrofitted station wagon, nicknamed "The Blue Bandit", in Sydney on Sunday, after travelling across 33 countries in over three years.

Calling it the "world's longest-ever journey by electric car", he hopes to "change people's opinions and inspire people to start driving electric".

"If one man can drive to the other side of the world in an electric car, then EVs (electric vehicles) should definitely be viable for daily use."
