6.1 magnitude earthquake strikes off the coast of Bali

An undersea earthquake measuring 6.1 in magnitude has struck off the coast of the Indonesian island of Bali.

The tremor prompted people to flee buildings, with a number of temples, hotels and other buildings on the popular tourist island being reportedly damaged.

According to the European earthquake monitoring agency EMSC, the epicenter was 102 kilometres southwest of the island's capital, Denpasar.

There were no immediate reports of casualties, while no tsunami warning was issued.
