Puerto Rico's governor has confirmed that he will not seek to be reelected next year.

Ricardo Rossello has been under pressure to quit after hundreds of misogynistic and homophobic chat messages from his phone were published last week.

The Telegram messages were mainly directed at fellow politicians and officials.

Lawmakers in the US have also demanded him to step down as thousands on the island continue hold protests.
