Pakistan has recalled its ambassador in New Delhi amid escalating tensions in India after a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir killed 44 Indian paramilitary police.
On Twitter, Pakistan's Foreign Office spokesman Mohammad Faisal said the officer has been called back for "consultations".
This comes after India recalled its ambassador to Pakistan last week.
On Monday, at least four Indian soldiers and one civilian were killed in a gunfight with rebels in Indian-administered Kashmir, while four paramilitary soldiers in Pakistan's Baluchistan were also gunned down by suspected separatists.
