Italian cruise ship docked in Japan has 14 more coronavirus cases

Fourteen more people on an Italian cruise ship docked for repairs in Japan's Nagasaki have tested positive for coronavirus, taking the tally to 48.

The Costa Atlantica first docked in Nagasaki in late February to undergo repairs.

Of the 600 crew members on board, 127 people have already been tested, with authorities adding that more screening will be carried out this week. 

Local authorities have raised concerns over the potential impact on Nagasaki residents and the strain on the city's medical centres. 

There have been reports suggesting that some crew members left the restricted area despite assurances from the ship operator.

So far, the country has recorded more than 11,500 infections and close to 300 deaths.
