The Indian government has decided to allow foreign tourists into the country.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) will start issuing tourist visas to foreigners coming on chartered flights, from October 15.

Meanwhile, visas for tourists travelling on regular flights to India will be issued from November 15.

All foreign tourists must adhere to COVID-19 protocols and norms notified by the health ministry.

The government said the decision was taken after it received representations from several state governments as well as various stakeholders in the tourism sector to lift the restrictions.
