The Arab League has condemned, in the strongest terms, the burning of the Holy Quran in Stockholm on Thursday.

In a statement, the Arab League Council said the horrific act incites hatred and violence and upsets and offends the feelings of over 2 billion Muslims worldwide.

The Council emphasised the need to address such acts of hatred and urged the global community to treat them as crimes of hatred and incitement that are subject to legal sanctions.

Earlier, Dr Anwar Gargash, diplomatic advisor to the UAE President, also denounced the incident, describing it as blatant and repeated attacks on the Islamic faith.
