Colin, the band's bassist, was house-sitting for a friend in Belgium when the accident happened.

As an original member of the band, Colin contributed to the group's first three albums including the popular 2001 mainstream hit Drops of Jupiter, which reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100, and won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Song.

He left the band in 2003.
