Taylor Swift wins big at 2024 MTV EMAs

Taylor Swift stole the spotlight at the 2024 MTV EMAs on Sunday, winning best artist, best U.S. act, best live act, and best video for "Fortnight" (featuring Post Malone).

Although she was finishing up her Eras tour in Europe, Swift thanked her fans via video message for the honors.

South African artist Tyla was also a major winner, taking home three awards for best afrobeats, best R&B, and best African act, while British singer Rita Ora hosted the event for a third time.

Ora paid tribute to her late friend, Liam Payne of One Direction, who tragically passed away in October, visibly upset the singer spoke of Liam Paynes kind nature and how he was always the first to offer help to others. 

Other standout moments included a powerful performance by Busta Rhymes, who received the EMAs Global Icon Award, and Shawn Mendes, who performed an intimate set and won best Canadian act.

Sabrina Carpenter won best song for "Espresso," and Ariana Grande was named best pop act.

The evening also celebrated the legacy of the Pet Shop Boys with the inaugural Pop Pioneers Award, while performances from Tyla, Peso Pluma, Le Sserafim, and other stars lit up the stage.

The show was held at Co-op Live in Manchester, U.K.
