Chewbacca's "bowcaster" used in the original Star Wars trilogy has sold for over $750,000 (AED 2.7 million) at auction, along with a medal given to Luke Skywalker in "A New Hope" which sold for $370,000 (AED 1.3 million) when it went under the hammer.

Chewbacca's weapon, which was seen in all three of the first films from 1977 to 1983 was estimated to fetch up to $500,000 (AED 1.8 million). The sought-after item is a modified crossbow made to look like a laser.

According to auctioneer Propstore, some of the parts have been removed or recreated.

The medal given to Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, released in 1977, was thought to sell for anywhere up to $600,000.

The item is believed to have also been worn by Harrison Ford, who played Hans Solo.
