Sharjah has announced grand plans to celebrate the 50th UAE National Day, including performances by Fayez Al Saeed, Balqees, Hussain Al Jassmi and Almas, to name a few.
An 11-day cultural extravaganza is in the works to mark the nation’s 50-year journey from November 23 to December 3.
Leading vocalists Fayez Al Saeed and Balqees will perform at a joint concert on December 1 at the Khor Fakkan Amphitheatre, while Hussain Al Jassmi will entertain audiences in his trademark style at Al Majaz Amphitheatre, backed by Faisal Al Jasim, Mohammed Al Menhali and Almas on December 3.
Other festivities will be held across Sharjah’s key tourist and cultural destinations including Khor Fakkan Amphitheatre, Sharjah National Park, Al Majaz Amphitheatre, Al Hisn Island in Dibba Al Hisn, Al Madam Municipality, Al Hamriyah Heritage Village, Kalba Corniche Park, and Al Dhaid Heritage Village.
The inauguration in the Eastern enclave will begin on November 23 with traditional Emirati music and dance shows, a hot-air balloon, roaming performances by musicians, artists and dancers, while squares turn into theatrical stages.
Al Madam will see a vibrant programme of musical shows and poetry sessions on November 25, delivered by prominent artists and classical Arabic poets.
Al Hamriyah village will bring Emirati maritime heritage to life through a broad range of activities, including educational and creative workshops, musical shows and "Nabati" poetry sessions.
Also on November 25, a national march will be held from the city centre to the UAE flagpole situated in Al Hisn Island.
The activities in the eastern town include an operetta marking the 50th year, a performance by Omani singer Abdullah Al Wasmi, celebrating the country’s history and accomplishments.
Classic auto enthusiasts can enjoy Kalba Corniche Park’s vintage car and bike show on November 26 followed by dazzling fireworks display.
Emirati folk music will also fill the air as part of a performance by traditional Ayala performers.
The Sharjah National Park has charted out more than 20 different events for visitors with games, entertainment and traditional foods from November 29 to December 3.
Al Dhaid city, meanwhile, will explore the beauty of Arabic poetry through a series of Emirati and classical Arabic poetry sessions and traditional music shows and competitions from November 29 to December 1.
