Kate Winslet bans her kids from social media

Kate Winslet has banned her children from social media. The 40-year-old actress has admitted sites such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook make her "blood boil" because of their affects and she doesn't want her children Mia, 14, Joe, 11, and 23-month-old Bear anywhere near them. Speaking to The Times' Culture magazine, she said: "It has a huge impact on young women's self-esteem, because all they ever do is design themselves for people to like them. And what comes along with that? Eating disorders. "And that makes my blood boil. And is the reason we don't have social media in our house." And it's not just social networking sites her children aren't allowed to use as she's also stopped them from having access to phones, computers and nifty little tablets. She said previously: "They [the children] don't have computers because we don't really do that in my house. You have to be a bit careful with that stuff with children because then they can become addicted to it like we all are. "I want them to be kids but it's a hard fight when they say 'But so and so's got one, why can't I have one?'. I say 'well, because you can go and climb that tree instead.' So it is quite a difficult fight for a parent to fight, but we're winning."
