Fans injured at Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa gig

Some 42 people were reportedly hurt when a railing collapsed during a concert featuring Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa on Friday night (05.08.16). The hip-hop duo were performing at the BB&T Pavilion in New Jersey as part of their Merry Jane Presents Snoop Dogg & Wiz Khalifa: The High Road Tour when a railing collapsed, causing fans to fall onto the concrete floor below. A video of the shocking incident has emerged online and it shows fans rushing towards the railing, crushing each other in the process and then the railing collapsing. The unfortunate incident, which occurred at around 10:30pm local time, led to calls from Snoop and Wiz for the fans to stand up. The duo had just reached a secondary stage before the railing fell, according to NBC10 Philadelphia, with reports saying it gave way under the pressure applied by overexcited fans. They are said to have fallen around 10 metres to the floor below, while Snoop and Wiz were ushered off stage by security staff. A Camden County Metro Police spokesman said 10 to 15 people were hurt in the incident, although CNN have reported that as many as 42 people had been taken to the nearby hospital. Shortly after the incident occurred, fans were told to wait around as they expected the concert to resume. However, given the severity of the situation, it was subsequently decided to cancel the event altogether. Outside the venue, meanwhile, an emergency area was set up to treat people who had suffered injuries in the incident.
