David Bowie's $20m Caribbean villa for rent

David Bowie's $20 million Caribbean holiday home is available to rent for the first time - for $70,000 a week. Fans of the late singer might see a stay at his former five-bedroom property on the island of Mustique as the perfect location to pay tribute to the singing legend - who died from cancer in January 2016 aged 69 - but they will have to splash out between $40,000 to $70,000 a week for the privilege. The Mandalay Estate is situated on a stunning 6.2-acre plot on the magnificent land mass - which is just three miles by one-and-a-half miles in size - and could be ideal for those supporters of the singer who are under pressure as it boasts several relaxing hot spots. While it is not quite life on Mars, the property features an infinity pool, waterfalls and garden decks, plus each of the five bedrooms has its own private veranda leading to the calming water. Fans of Bowie's impressive back catalogue of music will no doubt be pleased by the property's pavilion, called The Studio, which was the 'Starman' hitmaker's island recording studio and features a bamboo ceiling. Novelists or aspiring authors might be keen to pay the villa a visit because it comes complete with a writer's cottage, where publisher Felix Dennis penned a number of books after purchasing the plush pad from the late singer in 1995. Bowie superfan Simon Dolan is now thought to own the property, and those who are looking to pay a flying rental visit should be aware they must book for a minimum of seven days if they wish to stay in the amazing abode. The house is decorated in an Indonesian-style and the singer previously described the residence as a "delightful cliché". He said: "I wanted something as unlike the Caribbean as possible. "It's a whim personified. I love a good cliché, and this house, for me, is just the most delightful cliché. What you have to realise is that Mustique is a fantasy island." The island is a regular getaway spot for royalty in the form of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as well as Rolling Stones rocker Sir Mick Jagger.
