UAE shoppers relying heavily on online retailers: report

A majority of UAE residents are taking to online shopping, as it’s revealed nearly 70% of them have made a purchase on the internet. A Nielsen survey highlights the growing dependence of consumers on ‘e-tailers’. Recent reports say the Emirates’ retail market will grow at a modest rate this year due to low oil prices and a drop in tourist numbers. But, Hamad Al Lawati, manager for Community Malls for Majid Al Futtaim Properties, disagrees, as the mall chain opens a branch in Dubai’s Shindagha area. He tells ARN News, many will still prefer to go to shopping centres.
