UAE carriers ban use of Galaxy Note 7 on flights

The UAE’s airlines are joining several international carriers in banning the inflight use of Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 smartphones after reports of exploding batteries in some units. Emirates Airline, flydubai and Etihad Airways have confirmed placing restrictions on the device during flights. US and Japanese aviation authorities on Friday urged passengers not to turn on or charge the handsets on aircraft. The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has also told travellers not to carry the phones in their checked baggage. Samsung last week suspended sales of the Galaxy Note 7 and recalled millions of units. Over 25,000 units were also withdrawn from sale in the UAE market.
