Etihad warns of 'possible delays' when flying to UK

Etihad Airways has warned of "possible delays" for passengers travelling to the UK during the holiday season.

In a statement sent to ARN News, the UAE carrier said passengers are being “advised” of delays “on arrival at London Heathrow and Manchester Airport between December 23 and December 31” as the UK Border Force staff are set to go on strike.

This would mean “queues at passport control may be longer than normal” during this period.

Etihad added that this could “impact departures from the UK, as well as arrivals”.

The airline added that the “UK authorities have promised contingency measures to ensure arriving passengers are cleared as safely and as quickly as possible”.

“Guests arriving into the UK holding passports from the UK, US, EU, Australia, Canada, Iceland, Japan, Liechtenstein, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, South Korea and Switzerland will be able to use the electronic passport control gates (e-gates).”

Travellers are urged to get update information from the airline’s official sites.
