DXB to see record numbers in 2023

Almost 3 million passengers are expected to pass through Dubai Airport over the next 12 days.

January 2 is traditionally one of the busiest travel days of the year, and DXB is planning to welcome 242,000 passengers.

Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, spoke to Dubai Eye 103.8's Business Breakfast show about the record numbers.

Approximately 60 per cent of passengers arriving to DXB are coming to Dubai, instead of transiting. This is an increase of around 10 per cent compared to previous years.

China was one of the fastest growing markets for Dubai Airport growing 20 per cent year-on-year pre-pandemic. Last month, China announced that it would be easing curbs on its borders, which have been largely shut since 2020.

Griffiths adds that this would mean "strong growth" for Dubai.

Dubai Airports are expecting to get close to 7.8 million passengers each month towards the end of this year.

There's demand for Dubai as a destination seeing more than 100 per cent recovery in direct traffic from pre-pandemic levels.

Griffiths thinks DXB will hit record numbers in 2023.
