Dubai has formed a higher committee for future technology and digital economy.

It aims to shape the future of artificial intelligence (AI) by investing in the metaverse and establishing partnerships to boost the digital sector.

The committee will be chaired by Dubai's Crown Prince His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

He said the new body will help establish the emirate as a hub for the digital economy globally.

"We are working as a team to enhance Dubai’s position as a global birthplace and research laboratory for future technologies and one of the world’s top 10 metaverse economies, in line with the Dubai Metaverse Strategy," explained Sheikh Hamdan.

The committee will design policies and analyse trends for the digital economy and future technologies, including the metaverse, AI, blockchain, Web3, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), the Internet of Things (IoT), data centres and cloud computing in Dubai.

In addition to supervising the implementation of strategies related to the digital economy and future technologies, the committee will work to identify the future skills needed for the digital sectors and will also plan to attract international companies and conferences.
