WHO to meet over Ebola outbreak

The World Health Organization (WHO) will meet today to decide if the recent outbreak of Ebola should be declared as a ‘public health emergency of international concern.’

Doing so would trigger a large-scale response from the international community.

The diseases’ spread from the Democratic Republic of Congo has infected at least 44 people.

Although most cases have so far been restricted to rural areas, one case has been confirmed in the transport hub of Mbandaka.
