US transfers six surveillance drones to Philippines
The US has handed over six surveillance drones to the Philippines on Tuesday, in a bid to modernise the country’s military.
Philippine’s Defence Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said the drones will boost their ability to contain terror threats and respond to natural disasters.
This comes after the transfer of two single-engine surveillance planes last year.
The six Boeing Insitu ScanEagle drones, which have two cameras and can operate for up to 24 hours on a single run, is financed through a $13.7 million grant from Washington’s foreign military assistance programme.
