US officials ‘plan electronics restrictions’ on flights

US authorities are planning to ban travellers on some US-bound flights from taking onboard electronic devices bigger than a mobile phone.

Various American media outlets are reporting that the Department of Homeland Security will officially announce the new rule later on Tuesday.

Some media reports suggest the ban will be temporary, and is in response to a potential threat by a known terror group.
