UAE sets up moon-sighting committee to confirm end of Ramadan

A moon-sighting committee has been set up in the UAE to confirm the beginning of the month of Shawwal, which marks the start of Eid Al Fitr.

The panel, headed by Minister of Justice Sultan bin Saeed Al Badi Al Dhaheri, will meet after Maghreb prayers at the Abu Dhabi Judiciary Department on Thursday.

Sharia courts across the country have also been asked to look out for the crescent moon and inform the committee of any findings.
