UAE beat Iraq to reach finals of Arabian Gulf Cup
The UAE have reached the finals of the 23rd Arabian Gulf Cup after defeating Iraq in a penalty shootout.
They’ll now play Oman in Friday’s final after the Omanis defeated Bahrain 1-0 in the other semi-final.
Spot kicks were needed to decide a winner after both teams failed to find the back of the net in regulation and two halves of extra time.
Omar Abdulrahman and Ali Mabkhout both scored in the penalty shootout while Iraq failed to score twice.
The Emiratis are looking to win their third Gulf Cup title after winning the tournament in 2007 and 2013.
