Every Monday afternoon Michelle from Flight Centre UAE joins the Ticket team. Here’s what she has to say about this week’s Deal Of The Week. Take it away, Michelle!
Where and how far from here?
Med Cruise starting in Rome and ending in Venice.
Colder or hotter than here?
This deal is for cruising on 24th September when the weather is perfect in Europe!
Who goes there?
Cruises have a reputation for ‘old people’ but it is the total opposite – cruises are so great for families as the onboard entertainment is endless and you only have to unpack once which makes the parents lives so much easier.
Any famous people like it?
Thelma Barlow, Samantha Bond, Judith Chalmers and Game of Throne’s Julian Glover
How long should you look to go for?
The cruise is 7 nights and I think that’s the perfect amount of time before you start getting ‘cabin fever’ – there are some cruises that are 42 nights!
Why should we do this?
Queen Victoria is known for her elegance and her graceful splendour. Her unique facilities are amongst the most modern you will find and yet she has a special ambience so evocative of great liners past. With luxurious marbles, woods and rich fabrics she exudes elegance and is adored by her crew and passengers alike.
Top highlight: You get to see 4 countries without having to go to an airport
Day 1: Civitavecchia, Rome Italy (Check-In starts at 12:00pm)
Day 2: Messina Strait Italy
Day 3: Valleta, Malta
Day 4: At Sea
Day 5: Kotor, Montenegro
Day 6: Zadar, Croatia
Day 7: Venice, Italy
Day 8: Venice, Italy
Where to stay when we do?
Queen Victoria is having a facelift in June so when you cruise in September she would have been fitted with the latest. Onboard you will have access to the Royal Spa with beautiful therapies and treatment rooms, 2 swimming pools and 4 whirlpools, gym and fitness classes (yoga, aerobics and spinning). There is a library and afternoon tea is served everyday and you’ll be swept away by the tunes of pianists, a jazz band and string quartet. You can go to the theatre and watch a broadway show
Is there a beaten path? And can we get off it?
You are fairly beholden to the cruise itinerary, however, when you get free time in the destination you are free to do whatever you like. I think it’s quite cool that this itinerary stops in Malta and Kotor in Montenegro where you’ll have the day to explore. World Heritage Site – a “raw” version of Dubrovnik.
Are there any events happening that would be a time to aim for?
Venice Film Festival is at the start of September
Anywhere to avoid?
Azerbaijan is generally very calm with low crime rates. There are some Western bars that have had some pick pockets so as always just be a smart traveller
Who do we fly with?
This deal is just for the cruise only, however, we can definitely organise flights too.
Do we need a visa?
Any jabs req’d
No, but check with your doctor
