Thailand suspends salvage effort in boat disaster that killed 46
Thailand has suspended efforts on Thursday to salvage a boat that capsized off the resort island of Phuket.
Authorities, who put the death toll at 46, said the decision was made because the boat lay deep and currents were rough.
Divers would resume duty when weather conditions permitted, they added.
The captain of the Phoenix, which had 101 on board, has been charged with negligence causing death.
Two other boats capsized in the same vicinity as the Phoenix last week but their passengers were brought safely to shore.
