Syrian government to attend peace talks

20 March 2017
Representatives from the Syrian government are due to attend the next round of peace talks, to be held in Geneva later this week.

That’s according to Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, who also stated that United Nations special envoy Staffan de Mistura would be visiting Moscow ahead of the talks.

It’s reported that representatives also hope that armed opposition to Syria’s government, would also attend the talks, starting March 23rd.

It’s hoped a political agreement can be reached between Syria’s warring sides during the latest round of in-depth negotiations.
