Species of porcupine seen for first time in UAE
It’s now confirmed that the UAE is home to Indian crested porcupines.
The first confirmed sighting of the large rodent was made on the eastern side of the Wadi Wurayah Park in Fujairah.
Last month Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD) said the species of porcupine, which is native to southern Asia and the Middle East, were also present in the capital’s Al Dhafra region.
The finding means there are now 11 native and naturalised rodent species in the Emirates.
