Special Olympics Abu Dhabi set for record breaking attendance
A record-breaking 192 countries are set to take part in the upcoming Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi.
It’s after another 22 nations signed up for the mega event, which will run from March 14-21.
More than 7,500 athletes will compete across 24 different Olympic-style sports, while some 3,000 coaching staff will be there to assist them.
In order to familiarise the newly-accredited countries with the Special Olympics movement and the Games’ host nation, workshops were held in Kenya and Fiji recently.
During the sessions, participants learnt about intellectual disabilities, early childhood development, and the importance of how a family support network and sports can help transform lives.
