Sewing our way through #DubaiToday with Helen Farmer

Barbara, Pam and Mascha all join Helen Farmer in studio to talk little stitches …. Barbara Evans set up Rags to Riches UAE, with Pam Marsh who was inspired by 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela to try and  knit the the worlds largest blanket, and to then dismantle the blanket and send the blankets all over the world to people in need.

Mascha Bos-Ruig, is part of the Boomerang Bag groupd that originally started in Australia working to reduce the plastic waste,  by engaging local communities in the making of Boomerang Bags – community made, using recycled materials. Boomerang Bags provide a free, fun, sustainable alternative to plastic bags.

The Boomerang Bag workshop In The Sustainable City is held every Wednessday morning from 10 till 13 in the Visitors centre, as drop in and stay as long as you like workshop!
Anyone can join, as everyone can help; people with sewing skills and their own sewing machine, but also hands to help cutting fabrics, pinning and ironing as that all are steps in the process of making a new bag.
Helen is joined by Vet Dr Emmanouil Mastromanolis from Modern Vets and Pet Behaviourist, Aimee Orme talking animal news, talking how to bath your dog – from the coat, trimming claws, cleaning ear, eyes, general pet care, all of course on hand to answer all of your questions during the vet clinic.
