Security tight at Kenya court ahead of hearing on election challenges
Kenya’s Supreme Court on Tuesday has started preparations to review petitions challenging President Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory in last month’s election.
Experts said this may be the last chance for legal scrutiny of the vote.
Security around the court has been tightened over fears of violence.
The courts had first nullified the results of August’s presidential election over “irregularities” and ordered a re-run election on October 26.
Kenyatta won the elections after opposition leader Raila Odinga refused to contest the repeat vote saying the election commission had failed to implement reforms.
